FG declares Friday 1st Sept and Monday 4th Sept as public holiday to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir



The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, 1st and Monday 4th September, 2017 as Public Holidays to mark Eid-il-Kabir celebration.


This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

In the statement, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Muslim faithful and all Nigerians, urging them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country’s democracy.

Dambazau further urged all Nigerians to join hands with the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari in its avowed determination to build a peaceful and harmonious country, where the rights of every citizen, are protected and guaranteed, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Honourable Minister wishes all Nigerians a most rewarding and Happy Id-el-Kabir celebration.

The interesting thing about the two days public holiday is that both on Friday and on Monday, the Senior national football team, Super Eagles will be playing against Cameroon. The first leg of the match on Friday is to take place in Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state and the second leg will be on Monday in Camerron.
