President Buhari pictured signing his return letter (Photo)

After his speech to Nigerians this morning, President Muhammadu Buhari was pictured signing his return letter addressed to the National Assembly in his office.


Before leaving Nigeria on May 7th, the President sent a letter to the National Assembly notifying them that he would be leaving the country to London on medical leave and would return when his doctors says he is fit to govern and that during his stay in the United Kingdom, VP Yemi Osinbajo will act on his behalf.

After his return on Saturday, the President is expected to write the National Assembly notifying them of his return to the country and that he has also resumed duties as the President and Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.

According to Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), the letter stated in part: “In compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), I write to intimate that I have resumed my functions as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from Monday, 21st August, 2017, after my medical follow-up in the United Kingdom.”
