Samuel to replace Iwobi over injury

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has called up Aaron Samuel to replace injured Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi for the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against African champions, The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on September 1st and 4th.

Samuel who plays his trade with Russia’s Cska Moscow made the last of seven international appearances two years ago.

Iwobi was due to join the Super Eagles training camp on Monday after Arsenal’s Premier League game at Liverpool later on Sunday (today).

Iwobi had played in Nigeria’s first two World Cup qualifiers against Zambia and Algeria, scoring in a 2-1 win in Zambia in October 2016.
