30-year-old man who raped teenager to death remanded in Prison

A Magistrate Court in Oshogbo has ordered that a 30-year-old man, Ahmed Matunma Wokuekun, be remanded in Ile-Ife Prison custody for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl, identified as Dupe Lawrence, to death.

Wokuekun, who was arraigned by the police on Friday, was charged with rape and murder.

The prosecutor, Olusegun Elisha, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on November 17 at about 8am around Ifetedo area, Mofoworade village within Osogbo magisterial district.

The plea of the defendant was not taken as the magistrate, Mrs. Habibat Basiru, ordered that the accused person should be remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned to January 22, 2018, for a mention.
