On the sidelines of the 5th AU-EU summit, President Muhammadu Buhari today had a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor, Angela Markel, President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d'Ivoire, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and the Vice President of The Gambia, Fatoumatta Tambaiang respectively.

"I met with President Ouattara on the sidelines of the AU-EU Summit. An opportunity for frank talk about the situation in Togo. We must find a solution. The government and opposition must work to gain each other's trust. Instability in Togo will have serious regional consequences.

"Also met with Chancellor Merkel yesterday, in Abidjan. We discussed increased cooperation to check the illegal migration of Nigerians to Europe. We also discussed the progress of our war on terrorism, as well as investment opportunities in Nigeria for German companies."
