Tommy King's Blog Is Back!!!

Dear TKB Readers, I have been away for over two years and few months due to various reasons. Many of you guys have been asking me why I stopped blogging or why the blog was offline and I gave most genuine and honest answers.

The blog went offline in August 2018, evident in the last post before this. The major reason why the blog went offline was because I started my National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and my posting required so much of my time and dedication. Let me tell you guys a little about how my NYSC went.

After registering and checking my call up letter few days to the opening of camp, I found out I was posted to Obubra camp in Cross River state. The following day I left Abuja for Ekiti so I could get my medical/fitness certificate at a family friends' hospital in Ikere-Ekiti.

Tuesday morning, I am set to go to camp. I got to the park at 6:00am and I was lucky to meet the first bus to Onitsha from Ado-Ekiti. In a town almost at the outskirt of Ondo state, the vehicle's brake failed and we were near a military checkpoint. Thank God the driver was able to control the bus into an old fuel station and miraculously, the bus stopped after it aggressively hit a very deep hole at the entrance. The soldiers said we should thank our creator because if the driver did not make the move of entering the fuel station and proceeded towards them with top speed, they would have shot at the bus thinking it was an attack. Note that about fifteen passengers in the bus were prospective Corp members going to their various states of deployment.

To cut the long story short, I got to Obubra camp the next day and as I started my registration, the guys who were to confirm my deployment on their computer told me I am at the wrong place and that I was posted to F.C.T (Abuja) and not Cross River anymore as seen on the call-up letter I had with me. I was shocked and at the same time happy (God's mighty connection has done its wonders). I spent the night in the camp and the next day I set out to Abuja to join them in the camp. I did not really enjoy the camp to be honest though I also did not make real friends.

My Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) was the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) where I was for about a year and some weeks before I started my Masters programme at the University of Lagos in January, 2020. I must mention that I had an awesome time at INEC, special thanks to Barr. Oluwole Uzzi Esq. (Former Director of Voter Education and Publicity), the VEP staff and my colleagues.

While I was with INEC, the commission conducted the 2019 General election and some off season elections which took most of my time, I even close from the office at 12am when the presidential election situation room was opened at the International Conference Center (ICC) and at 6:00am, I was already back there (I really enjoyed the job). The busy schedule, my Master's programme are some of the reasons why it took me time to return to blogging. But now, I AM BACK.

How have you guys been though? I miss you all.
