Ekiti state government to import 250 cows from the United States
The government of Ekiti state, Nigeria, has made arrangements to import two hundred and fifty cows from the state of Texas in the United States of America, to boost milk production in the state's Ikun Dairy farm.
In 2019, the governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi signed an agreement with a private company, Promasidor Nigeria Limited.
The partnership attracted a new investment of $5 million into Ikun Dairy Farm that is being used to purchase equipment, provide the appropriate herd of cattle, and develop an out-grower scheme for providing feed for the cattle. The State will start producing ten thousand liters of milk daily in the next 18 to 24 months.
